The men are made from Dupont Delrin to be highly duarable and last for decades, painted by hand, then covered with an industrial clear coat to help hold the paint. Over time they will show some wear (especially the feet/legs/pads) as they get hit with sticks and pucks repeatedly. You can periodically touch-up using a permanent marker (sharpie) or acrylic paint (liquitex). It is best to pull the men off the game, touch-up then hit with a clear coat of ultra hard lacquer (Krylon or Testors are sold in most hardware/hobby shops) to protect the paint.
